The International Center for Humanitarian Affairs (ICHA) provided technical expertise in developing the Kenya Red Cross Society’s (KRCS) Humanitarian Diplomacy Strategy 2025–2029, funded by the Danish Red Cross. The strategy strengthens KRCS’s advocacy for vulnerable populations, policy influence, and strategic partnerships to tackle Kenya’s humanitarian challenges.
The strategy focuses on four key issues: Localization, Safer Access, One Health Approach, and Anticipatory Action, structured around evidence-based advocacy, strategic partnerships, policy influence, and community engagement.
Localization aims to empower local communities by enhancing their emergency response capacity and directing resources efficiently.
Safer Access prioritizes neutral, secure humanitarian operations through training and security protocols to protect both personnel and communities.
The One Health Approach integrates human, animal, and environmental health to address zoonotic diseases and strengthen public health.
Anticipatory Action emphasizes disaster preparedness through early warning systems and risk analysis, enabling proactive crisis response.
This strategy positions KRCS as a leader in humanitarian action, ensuring it remains prepared for evolving challenges.
