Kenya Red Cross Society will be holding a high level breakfast meeting dubbed ‘Climate Resilience Roadshow 2018’ that will take place on 30th October 2018 at The Boma Hotel, Nairobi from 7.30am-10.00am. This event will be followed by a public forum at the Institution of Climate Change and Adaptation at the University of Nairobi from 3:00pm - 5:00 pm.

As we are nearing the entry into force of the Paris Agreement, approaching another UN Climate Summit in 2019 that will include a major focus on adaptation and resilience, the time is right to take stock on what is working and what is not in building resilience and enhancing adaptation to climate change – in order to scale up successes and move beyond challenges.

To answer these questions, a series of interactive dialogues will be held throughout 2018 and 2019 in different cities in the world as part of a ‘Climate Resilience Roadshow’. The Nairobi event will focus on sharing what has been learned to date from large scale programmes on resilience building in order to inform policy discussions on what support African Countries need to meet their international obligations, and ultimately build the resilience of the most vulnerable population.

The African context will have reflections from IDDRSI, PfR and BRACED programes. The high-level breakfast meeting will be targeting government ministries from various countries in Africa including Mali, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and South Sudan, development partners such as World Bank, DFID, Africa Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, Private sector alliances and Humanitarian partners.
